Pierre Bataille started this sculpture of Christ in 1999.  As you will note, Christ's head is not yet finished.  Pierre needed the proper dimensions for Christ.  He used his own height as a model, and fashioned Christ with this rusty, but solidly strong barbed wire.  He acquired the barbed wired from a German Concentration Camp.  He has several ideas for its usage, but in the end, he twisted the wire into the form of Christ.  During the Occupation, in Pierre's  mind, the Germans, the Jews, and the barbed wire were all intricately intertwined.  Pierre Bataille may have created the Crucifixion of Christ as a symbol depicting the suffering of the Jews.    This artistic and impressive work of Christ stands, incomplete, in his workshop in Normandy, France.
